Canoeing, kayaking, rowing, rafting
Freshwater, white water
The Corrèze has both calm lakes and gushing rivers, making it the ideal place for traditional water sports and white water sports alike. The Corrèze, Dordogne and Vézère rivers offer some very beautiful stretches for canoeing and kayaking. The Corrèze is renowned for water sports both nationally and internationally as the small town of Treignac on the Vézère has twice hosted the World Canoeing Championships (in 1959 and 2000).Rafting is also possible on the Corrèze and the Vézère in spring and autumn, while aqua-hiking through the gorges of the Corrèze and tributaries of the Dordogne can be enjoyed in the summer months. Rowing is offered by two centres, including the excellent and internationally-recognised Lac du Causse which hosted the European Junior Rowing Cup in 2002, the World University Rowing Championship in 2004 and the World Junior Rowing Championships in August 2009.
