Heritage in all its guises

Visitors interested in Romanesque architecture and art are spoilt for choice in the Corrèze. Our country churches, châteaux built of granite and sandstone, and picturesque villages with pretty old slate- or lauze-roofed houses are well worth the detour. And around every corner you’ll find examples of everyday countryside heritage such as fountains, bridges, mills, wells, dry-stone shepherds’ huts and ancient stone roadside crosses. 34 different museums, heritage museums (écomusées) and permanent exhibitions explore the history of the Corrèze through the region’s craft and manufacturing industries, traditional expertise and environment.
