In 1745, Pompadour was given, along with the title Marquise, to the famous mistress of Louis XV. Open to the public: - part of the castle, the gardens, the Marquise stables and the Orangery, - Le Haras National de Pompadour (National Stud), cradle of the Anglo-Arab breed, - La Jumenterie Nationale de la Rivière (National Mare Farm), unique in France, - the Hippodrome, a category 1-rated steeplechase course, considered to be one of the most beautiful and technically challenging in France (guided tours for groups).
