With its permanent and temporary exhibitions, the Maison de l’Arbre nature centre provides information on the natural world and its inhabitants (aquarium of fish from the Limousin, a terrarium with batrachians and insects, beehive etc). The centre organises events which introduce adults and children to the workings of nature. Facilities here include a nature library, educational games area, laboratory-cum-classroom, video room, a room dedicated to Marcelle Delpastre, “sensory” rooms and a video-conference room. Shop selling gifts, souvenirs and regional products. Jardin des Saveurs et des Senteurs (vegetable and aromatic garden). In this garden visitors are invited to touch and taste a range of old and new varieties of fruits and vegetables, including aromatic plants. The Maison de l’Arbre et de la Nature is open from 1 April to 31 October. July and August, daily from 10am-noon and 2-6pm. Outside of the summer season: daily, except Wednesdays, 2-6pm. Open for groups only at other times of year (contact the centre two weeks in advance). Closed 15 December to 31 January. Entrance fee.
