This museum provides a fascinating introduction to the history of the Plateau de Millevaches from its earliest history to the present day. The museum’s remarkable collection, displayed on three levels, was the work of Marius Vazeilles (1881-1973), a former forest warden with a keen interest in archaeology. Exhibits on display include Palaeolithic and Neolithic tools, Gallo-Roman funerary objects, and artefacts relating to local rural life, such as furniture from a typical country house, everyday utensils, clothes and tools for ploughing. Open from 21 April to 4 November: - April, May, June, September, October: 2.30-6pm, except Monday and Thursday; - July-August: daily (except Monday), 10am-noon and 2.30-6.30pm; - Guided tours on specific dates. Entrance fee.
