Tours de Merle

11C medieval citadel overlooking the Maronne river, on the border of the Limousin, Aquitaine and Auvergne regions.Open to the public: - the fortress, - the 10ha grounds, with ruins of the village, reconstruction of a farm and typical crops and plants grown during the Middle Ages,- Maison Madège (housing an archaeological collection and other exhibits). Entertainment and shop. Open from 1 April to 4 November. April, May, June, September and November school holidays: 2-6pm, daily. July and August: 10am-7pm daily. October: 2-6pm every Sunday. Last admission 1hr before closing time. Unaccompanied visits or guided tours. Out of season, guided tours for groups by prior arrangement. Entrance fee.
