Turenne

The name Turenne has gone down in history, thanks to the well-known Maréchal de France, who took the name of his ancestral Viscounty. Built on a hillock, the ruins of the feudal castle and the Tour César dominate the village with its old houses and Chapelle des Capucins. Don't miss the 15C houses and the Hôtel de Cosnac, an old hunting lodge. Guided tours for individuals (1hr 30) on Wednesday at 10.30am and Friday at 4.30pm, from June to September (minimum of 5 people). Costumed, interactive tours on Mondays at 4pm and Thursdays at nightfall in July and August (reservation required). Group tours all year uponrequest. Duration: 1hr 15. Guided tours in English, German and Spanish by prior arrangement.
